Banting or Low Carb High Healthy Fat (LCHF) - Tim Noakes has popularised the term "Banting" as a synonym for the low carb high healthy fat (LCHF) way of eating. Named after London undertaker William Banting from the 1860's. Banting famously published his Letter on Corpulence , which documented his struggle with his weight, and more importantly, his recovery and weight loss using a low carb strategy. In his letter he claimed - starch and saccharine matter, tend to create fat, and should be avoided altogether.....that any starchy or saccharine matter tends to the disease of corpulence in advanced life.......all things tending to these elements should be avoided, of course always under sound medical authority.
